Turn of the tide - B. Peterson

This is the story of the Irish people in relation to the sea which surrounds their island and which has had a profound effect upon them and their history down through the centuries. It is an unusual story because for many hundreds of years the people of Ireland were not in control of their own destiny. As  a result, their maritime traditions and activities became obscured and it appeared to many that the Irish had rejected the sea and were content to be mere landsmen.
